Safe Communities Initiative: Ending Gender-Based Violence
Gender-based violence (GBV) remains prevalent in marginalized communities like Mukta Kamaiya Basti, driven by harmful social norms, limited awareness, and lack of support systems. This initiative addressed the issue through community-based awareness sessions using a participatory approach, equipping households with knowledge on GBV, promoting gender equality, and building local capacity to sustain prevention efforts through trained facilitators.
Outcomes Achieved
- Increased awareness of GBV and its impacts’ with strengthened community commitment to reduce violence
- Enhanced capacity of local facilitators to continue awareness and prevention efforts
